Gutsy Walk 2018 - Gutsy Walk 2018
Team Emily's Got Guts

Dear Family and Friends,

We are excited to be back again fundraising for a great cause and to show our support for Emily and all those affected by these diseases!!

We are houndered to be chosen as one of the ‘Feature Teams’ for this years walk; check us out on the feature teams website. http://www.gutsywalk.ca/Fundraise/Featured-Team.aspx

Write-up from the Feature Teams website:

We created Team Emily's Got Guts in May 2016 just after our daughter Emily (then 3 years old) was first diagnosed with IBD. Having a daughter living with Crohn's disease has given us a first hand look at the struggles people with these diseases and their families go through and this is the main reason we feel so strongly about this fundraiser. We feel that supporting this charity truly can benefit the quality of life that we can expect for Emily and all others that are affected by these diseases.

When we created this team in 2016 we were just in the process of digesting what this disease was all about and what it meant for our family.  We noticed an add for the Gutsy Walk online and with only a few weeks left until the walk day we started fundraising, and partook in our first Gutsy Walk with our daughter Emily and her little sister Harper. The support we received from our family and friends that year was overwhelming and this compelled us to raise our goal for 2017 in a big way!  We reached out to our supporters and together formed a team consisting of over 30 people who not only care for Emily as much as we do but are also just as motivated to raise money for everyone affected by IBD.

Our team is formed mostly of family members from all over Saskatchewan and Alberta.  Last year we had over 20 people from our team join us in Swift Current for our local Gutsy Walk (some travelled over 6 hours to be with us).  We had a lot of fun getting together for the Walk and are hoping to make this an annual gathering.

Our initial goal last year was to raise $10,000.00 for the Gutsy Walk, our team came together in a big way and all together Team Emily's Got Guts raised over $28,000.00!   Although our team members have proven to be great at fundraising, they are much more than that to us.  They are Emily's support system throughout the entire year in her daily life and everything we go through as a family.  The fact that they are so willing to commit their time to this cause shows how great they truly are, and means more to us than words can say.

We are gearing up for our third Gutsy Walk and are more motivated than ever to make this year another success.  We are looking forward to partaking in this event again and meeting all the great people that it brings with it!

Wish you well,

Nathan and April

Thanks to everyone for their continued support!!

Every hour of every day, one Canadian is newly diagnosed with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.

As it takes guts to find a cure, our team will be getting gutsy by participating in Crohn’s and Colitis Canada’s Gutsy Walk on Sunday, June 3.

Today, we are asking you to get gutsy with us by making a donation to our team.

How will your generous gift make an impact? Your donation will be invested in world-class research, empowering patient programs, advocacy efforts and elevating awareness.

Together, we can move towards a future free of Crohn’s and colitis.

Thank you for showing you have the guts it takes to find cures.
