LOCAL HONORARY CHAIR

Emma Haist, 2019 Gutsy Walk Local Honorary Chair

My name is Emma Haist. I am honored to be the Niagara Region's Honorary Chair for the second time! I am 15 years old and have been living with Crohn's for 5 years now and I want to help find a cure! I found out that I had Crohn's right before the Gutsy Walk in 2014. I had just gotten out of the hospital. I wanted to do the walk, but was too weak. So with my family's support and my determination I did it the following year! Since 2015 I have raised over $20,000 for Crohn's and Colitis Canada and I have raised a lot of awareness for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. Living daily with these diseases is challenging, but it does get better as you learn to manage your life with diet and medications. Crohn's is a part of my life, but I don't let it get in the way of being me! I still do everything I want to do! Crohn's doesn't define who I am!!!

I am looking to you all for support as we walk on Sunday, June 2, 2019. Let's make the pain and discomfort STOP! Join me and let's walk together. It would mean a lot to see you all there showing your support and standing behind those of us who suffer! I have met a lot of people who battle these diseases and we all just want to MAKE IT STOP!!!
