LOCAL HONORARY CHAIR
Corinne Knuth, 2019 Gutsy Walk Local Honorary Chair
I’m Corinne Knuth. At 16 I learned I had Crohn’s. I am now 58. Two brothers have Crohn’s; 1 sister has colitis. Recently I lost my younger brother to Crohn’s. My son has Crohn’s. I am blessed with 2 beautiful children, 3 grand kids and a wonderful husband who has his 3 children and 2 grand kids. All are very supportive.
In and out of hospital and doctors’ offices most of life, I’ve had 5 surgeries and have missed out on many family functions and holidays. I struggle with my weight and energy level. I was at the point that I wouldn’t eat before outings in fear of no washrooms close by. Often I would stay home. I didn’t even want to get out of bed. I would tell people I was fine when I wasn’t because I didn’t want to hear what I should try and not do.
I’ve worked for Loblaw's for 33 yrs. I have always been a very active person until about 4 years ago when Crohn’s took its toll on me. I've been back to work full time since January. I am fighting this disease and am determined to win.
